HMAS Cerberus, a pivotal establishment in the history of the Royal Australian Navy, is more than just a naval base. Its roots stretch back to the 19th century, when it was commissioned in 1921 as Flinders Naval Depot. Since then, it has served as a foundational training and development hub for the Navy. Situated on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, the base was renamed HMAS Cerberus in 1948, honouring the naval brig that served in Australian waters during the 19th century. To this day, HMAS Cerberus remains an integral part of the Royal Australian Navy, embodying its rich history and commitment to excellence.
