Embroidered Australian Made Para Wings Mess Dress

Gold Embroidered Thread on Blue

Parachute wings are a recognised qualification badge worn on Air Force uniform by members who have successfully completed an approved Australian Defence Force parachute training course. The standard Air Force parachute badge depicts a white descending parachute supported by light blue outstretched wings on an oval Air Force blue background and is worn on the upper right sleeve of authorised Service Dress and Mess Dress items, positioned so the top of the parachute canopy sits 80 mm below the shoulder seam. A gold-wing version is worn with the Mess Dress jacket. The badge therefore identifies a formally attained parachuting qualification rather than simply a unit association. Members qualified for an equivalent badge through another Australian Service may seek approval to wear the Air Force equivalent, while foreign parachute qualifications generally require approval through DLOG-AF before being worn.
